Winter Blues Getting You Down?
Are you suffering from the winter blues? Whether you’re living on the East Coast, West Coast or middle of the country, we are all experiencing shorter days, less sunlight, and more indoor time. For many people, myself included, this can lead to the winter blues.
Symptoms of the Winter Blues
I have had many days over the past few weeks when I just wanted to crawl up into a little ball and get back under the covers. I have found myself dozing off in the middle of the afternoon…and I’m not a napper! Sugar and empty carb cravings seem to be at an all time high this time of year. I have also found that my mind is not as clear as usual and I can be easily distracted.
Traditional Ways to Fight the Winter Blues
There are lots of ways to fight the winter blues. Sun lamps can be very effective when used in the morning.
- Increased exercise
- Vitamin D supplements
- Spending time outdoors in the sunshine
- Eating foods high in Omega 3 fatty acids can all be very helpful.
Having More Sex is the Best Way to Fight the Winter Blues
But here’s the best solution for the winter blues that I have found and it’s the most fun and pleasurable of all …. Have more sex!
Did you know that having sex is actually good for you? When we have sex and orgasms our body releases endorphins which are natural hormones that relieve stress, anxiety and depression.
Sex Releases Love Hormones
The “love hormone” oxytocin is released simply upon touch, whether you are being touched by yourself or someone else. Even higher levels of oxytocin are released during orgasm. And you don’t need a partner to enjoy having orgasms!
Sex Releases Serotonin–An Anti Depressant
If you are fluid bonded with a partner, you will also receive many health benefits from their semen that will fight the winter blues. Semen is known to contain mood-altering chemicals such as estrone and oxytocin, which elevate mood; cortisol, which promotes affection; serotonin, which acts as an antidepressant; and melatonin, which induces sleep.
So if you’re feeling the winter blues coming on, hit the gym, after you hit the sheets!
